Woman, 60, Severely Injured After Being Ejected From Colorado Roller Coaster
A day that was supposed to be filled with fun and beautiful mountain views turned into a terrifying ordeal for one Colorado family.
Nicki Parker, 60, was hospitalized with serious injuries after she was allegedly ejected from the Rocky Mountain Coaster at Copper Mountain and dragged along the track. The frightening accident left Parker facing a long road toward recovery and her husband with the painful memory of witnessing what happened.

A Roller Coaster Ride Turns Into a Nightmare
The incident occurred on Monday, August 17, while Parker was riding the Rocky Mountain Coaster at Copper Mountain in Colorado.
According to reports from FOX31 Denver, Westword and Summit Daily, Parker's attorney, Trent Ongert of Bloch Ongert Injury Law, said Parker was thrown from her seat despite her seatbelt reportedly being fastened.
The circumstances surrounding exactly how the accident occurred remain under review.

What reportedly happened next was terrifying.
Ongert told FOX31 Denver that the seatbelt became wrapped around Parker and that she was dragged along the coaster track as the cart continued downhill. He estimated that Parker was dragged for approximately 20 to 30 seconds.
Twenty seconds may not sound like a long time during an ordinary day. But in a moment of fear, pain and uncertainty, seconds can feel like an eternity.
Her Husband Witnessed the Accident
Adding to the heartbreak, Parker's husband was reportedly riding in the coaster cart directly behind her. According to her attorney, he witnessed the accident unfold and then desperately tried to reach his wife.
Parker was reportedly lying on the track after the incident. Ongert told FOX31 Denver that her husband had to help get her out of the dangerous area, which he described as approximately 15 to 20 feet above the ground.

Parker Suffered Serious Injuries
Parker suffered extensive injuries in the accident, according to Westword, citing information from Bloch Ongert Injury Law.
Her reported injuries include a traumatic brain injury, a broken rib that punctured and collapsed her lung, a dislocated shoulder requiring surgery and numerous lacerations across her body. She remained hospitalized more than a week after the incident.
For Parker and those who love her, recovery may involve much more than simply leaving the hospital. Serious injuries can bring surgeries, rehabilitation, doctor's appointments and uncertainty about what the future will look like.
There is also the emotional trauma experienced not only by the injured person but by family members who witnessed or responded to the event.

Copper Mountain Responds
Copper Mountain confirmed that an incident involving a guest on the Rocky Mountain Coaster occurred on August 17.
In a statement provided to local news outlets, Copper Mountain said its patrol team responded to the incident and that when patrol members arrived, the guest was seated in the coaster cart with the seatbelt fastened.
According to the resort, Copper Mountain Patrol helped Parker return to the base area, where her care was transferred to Summit Fire & EMS.
The resort also confirmed that the coaster was closed following the incident.
Copper Mountain said it was working with the Colorado Division of Oil and Public Safety and the manufacturer to review what happened.
"Our thoughts are with the guest, and we wish them a speedy recovery," the resort said.
As authorities and other parties investigate, it is important not to rush to conclusions about precisely what caused the accident. Parker's attorney has made allegations regarding the restraint and safety system, while the resort has provided its account of the response. Determining exactly what happened will require the appropriate investigation and review. For now, the most important concern is Parker's recovery.

God's presence doesn't always mean circumstances immediately change. Sometimes His presence appears through a spouse who refuses to leave a hospital bedside.
Sometimes it comes through doctors and nurses working through the night.
Sometimes it comes through friends bringing meals, strangers offering encouragement or thousands of people praying for someone they have never met.
And sometimes God's presence is experienced in the quiet moments when fear feels overwhelming and a person realizes they are not facing the darkness alone.
A Reminder to Pray
