Florida Mother Seeks Justice After 2-Year-Old Brittany Arrellano Dies in Hot Car Tragedy

The heartbreaking loss of a young child has left a Florida family grieving and many across the community praying for comfort and justice.

Hallandale Beach Police confirmed that 2-year-old Brittany Nicole Arrellano died on Sunday, July 5, after she was left inside a vehicle for several hours while under the care of a babysitter. Brittany was transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

According to a GoFundMe created to support the family, Brittany's mother, Cristina Lopez, was at work when officers arrived to deliver the devastating news of her daughter's passing.

"I just want justice," Cristina told local news outlet WPLG as she continues to mourn the unimaginable loss of her little girl.

The fundraiser states that the babysitter had arranged for her own father to pick Brittany up instead of personally caring for her. According to multiple local news reports, Brittany remained inside the vehicle from approximately 9:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. during the intense Florida heat.

Investigators determined the toddler had been inside the vehicle for about three hours before she was discovered. Brittany had celebrated her second birthday just weeks earlier in May.

The GoFundMe organizer also shared that Cristina was initially informed no charges would be filed against either the caregiver or the man who picked Brittany up. The organizer stated this was due to the man's reported mental illness and questions surrounding the babysitting arrangement. However, Hallandale Beach Police later released an updated statement clarifying that no final charging decision has been made.

According to police, the Broward State Attorney's Office is currently reviewing the circumstances of the case to determine whether criminal charges are appropriate, while investigators await the Medical Examiner's final report.

As this investigation continues, many are joining Brittany's family in praying that truth, wisdom, and justice will prevail. While no words can erase the pain of losing a child, Scripture reminds us that
