I Saw Hell and Then Met Jesus: Jordan Samuel's Near-Death Experience

Jordan Samuel's Near-Death Experience and the Life-Changing Encounter He Says He Had with Jesus For most of his life, Jordan Samuel believed hell was nothing more than a myth.  Like many people, he thought that if he lived a decent life and treated others well, everything would work out in the end. "I went my whole life not believing that hell was real," Jordan recalls. "I didn't want to believe in all that dark stuff. I thought there was no hell." Today, he passionately says the opposite.  Jordan believes he experienced both hell and heaven during what he describes as a near-death experience, an encounter that completely transformed his life. Note: Near-death experiences (NDEs) are personal testimonies. While many people find them inspiring, they should not be considered equal to Scripture. Christians are encouraged to evaluate every experience in light of God's Word. A Childhood Full of Questions About Jesus Image created with AI. Jordan grew up in Edm...

After dying three times in a tragic car crash, Landon Kemp shares his near-death experience and says he saw Jesus in heaven. Here is Landon story and How This Heaven Experience Changed His Life.

In 1997, Julie experienced every parent’s worst nightmare. A devastating car accident took the life of her husband and nearly claimed the life of her eight-year-old son, Landon. Doctors believed that if Landon survived, he would suffer severe brain damage and never live a normal life again.

But what happened next stunned doctors, family members, and eventually thousands of people around the world.

According to Landon, during his near-death experience, he experienced heaven, saw Jesus, saw deceased family members he had never known existed, and received a message that would shape the rest of his life.

A Tragic Sunday Morning

On a Sunday morning in 1997, Julie, her husband Andy, and their son Landon were driving home from church. Without warning, an ambulance returning to its station sped through an intersection and slammed into their vehicle. Julie remembers hearing her husband yell just moments before impact.

“I didn't see what he was yelling at. I didn't see the ambulance coming. But I remember him yelling. That was the last thing I heard from him.”

The collision was catastrophic. Andy Kemp was killed instantly. Rescuers rushed to help Julie but initially didn't realize there was a third passenger trapped in the wreckage.

Because of the severe damage on the driver's side, Landon’s body was hidden from view behind his father’s seat. Only after spotting one of his shoes did emergency crews discover him. When they finally pulled him from the vehicle, he wasn't breathing.

Paramedics immediately began life-saving efforts.

Landon was revived at the scene and airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center. But the battle wasn't over. During that same day, he died two more times. Each time doctors managed to bring him back.

The prognosis was grim.

Doctors warned Julie that even if Landon survived, the massive head trauma would likely leave him with severe disabilities.

“They told me that if he lived, which did not look good, but that if he lived, that he would be like an eight-year-old baby. He would not know how to walk or talk or eat.” Julie recalled.

Despite the devastating news, Julie clung to hope.

“I would take that just to have him. He was all that I had.”

Angry, Heartbroken, and Praying

While her son lay in a coma, Julie attended her husband's funeral. She remembers feeling abandoned by God. The questions were overwhelming!

  • Why had this happened?
  • Why hadn't God protected them?
  • Why hadn't angels intervened?

“While I'm sitting at the funeral, I'm fussing at God. I don't understand why this happened.” Julie stated.

Yet even in her anger and heartbreak, she found herself praying harder than ever. She begged God to spare her son's life. For two agonizing weeks, Landon remained in a coma. Doctors could see no significant signs of improvement. Julie spent those days praying for one simple miracle.

“I kept praying that he would open his eyes.”

Then, after fourteen days, he did.

A Miraculous Recovery

When Landon finally woke up, doctors were astonished. Against all medical expectations, he showed no signs of brain damage. No cognitive impairment. No loss of speech. No severe neurological problems. It was the outcome no one expected.

As Julie celebrated the miracle, she faced another difficult task. She needed to tell her son that his father had died. Carefully, she asked him a simple question.

“Landon, do you know where your dad is?”

His answer shocked her.

“Yes,” he said. “I know where he's at. I saw him in heaven.”

Years later, Landon still remembers what he says happened during Landon Kemp's Near-Death Experience. He recalls seeing his father in heaven, but Andy wasn't alone.

Landon says he also saw family friends Olan Palmer and Neal Palmer, both of whom had died before the accident.

“Neither one of us said a word to each other. But we were just all standing there.” Landon recalled.

The experience was vivid and unforgettable. But that wasn't the part that surprised Julie the most.

The Siblings He Never Knew

One day, Landon casually mentioned something that stopped his mother in her tracks.

“Oh Mom, by the way, I forgot to tell you I saw your other two kids.”

Julie was confused. What other children? Then she realized what he meant.

Before Landon was born, Julie had suffered two miscarriages. She and her husband had never told Landon about them. In fact, he had no way of knowing they had existed. Yet he insisted he had met them in heaven.

“I knew that they were my siblings even though no one had ever told me about them,” Landon said.

He described simply knowing who they were.

“Just being in heaven, I guess you know your own.” Stated Landon.

For Julie, the revelation was deeply moving and impossible to explain.

Meeting Jesus

What Happened During Landon's Near-Death Experience? Landon says that each time he died, he experienced something different. The most significant experience came during the third time he was clinically dead. That's when he says he met Jesus. Landon described the encounter as seeing pieces of a much larger reality—like watching previews of a movie.

Then Jesus spoke to him. According to Landon, Jesus gave him a mission.

“Jesus came to me and told me that I have to go back to Earth and be a good Christian and tell others about Him.”

That message would become the foundation of his life.

Sharing Hope Through Grief

Today, Landon and Julie use their story to encourage people facing grief, tragedy, and loss. Through organizations like GriefShare and through speaking opportunities, they share how faith carried them through unimaginable pain. Looking back, Julie says her perspective has changed dramatically.

“I didn't understand in 1997 why God didn't send an angel. But I know there were angels there, and I know that we were protected.”

Instead of allowing bitterness to consume her, she chose to trust God and help others find hope.

“I just want people to realize that Jesus is real. There is a heaven. There are angels.”

Julie did write a book about her experiences. "Faith Has It's Reasons." You can find this book on Amazon

Nearly three decades later, Landon remains convinced that what he experienced was real. He says his faith is not based merely on belief but on personal experience.

“I know that He is real. I know that angels are there. I know that there's a heaven.”

And his mission remains unchanged.

“I've seen Jesus. I know He's there. He's asked me to do this, and this is what I'm doing.”

Whether one views near-death experiences through a spiritual, medical, or personal lens, Landon Kemp's story continues to inspire countless people searching for hope beyond tragedy.

For Julie, the accident that seemed to destroy everything ultimately became a testimony of faith.

And for Landon, it became the reason he spends his life telling others about the heaven he believes he saw.
