A family in Boise, Idaho, is grieving the heartbreaking loss of their 12-year-old son after a tragic drowning accident at Trinity Hot Springs.

Everett Matthew Newby was enjoying time with loved ones on June 20 when he became submerged in the water at Trinity Hot Springs near Featherville. Although emergency responders and medical staff fought to save his life, Everett was pronounced dead later that evening at 6:45 p.m. in the intensive care unit at St. Luke's Hospital in Boise.

According to the Ada County Coroner's Office, investigators were called to the hospital shortly after Everett's passing. Officials confirmed that he had been underwater for a period of time earlier that day. At this time, the official cause and manner of death remain under investigation.

In the midst of unimaginable grief, Everett's parents shared a moving tribute celebrating the remarkable young boy they were blessed to call their son.

They described Everett as someone who "loved deeply and lived boldly." He was known for his adventurous spirit, quick sense of humor, kindness, intelligence, and love for music. He especially cherished spending time outdoors, treasured his faith, and loved being a devoted big brother to his two younger sisters.

His parents said that while their hearts are broken by his sudden passing, they find comfort in their faith and in the hope of being reunited with him one day.

"We find peace in the promises of our Savior and the knowledge that life does not end here and we will see him again," they shared.

They also expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support, prayers, and compassion shown by family, friends, and members of the community during this difficult time. As they begin the difficult journey of grieving their son, they have asked for continued prayers and privacy.

Their tribute concluded with a heartfelt farewell:

"Until we meet again, my sweet Everett. Thank you for 12½ of the most beautiful years. We love you forever and ever."

The Boise community has rallied around the Newby family. A GoFundMe campaign has been established to help cover Everett's medical expenses and funeral costs, and a memorial fund has also been opened through ICCU Credit Union for those who wish to support the family.

Everett's life, though far too short, left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. His memory will live on through the love he shared, the joy he brought to others, and the faith that continues to comfort those who mourn his loss.
