I Saw Hell and Then Met Jesus: Jordan Samuel's Near-Death Experience
Welcome back Gods411 family. Today I want to talk about the fact that we Christians WILL suffer. We WILL endure hardships throughout our lives. We are not promised an easy life here on earth. BUT, there is a promise from God that you will NEVER have to face anything alone, good or bad, He will be right there with you. Come with me as we dig deeper into that promise.
Life has a way of bringing us into moments that shake you to your very soul. There are seasons when loss feels unbearable, when prayers seem unanswered, and when loneliness settles deep into the heart. In those moments, we often wonder, “Where are You God?” Yet one of the most comforting promises in all of Scripture speaks directly into those fears:
“I will never leave you nor forsake you.” — Hebrews 13:5
These words are more than a verse to memorize. They are a promise from God Himself. A promise that no matter how dark the valley becomes, no matter how heavy the grief feels, and no matter how far we think we’ve wandered, God remains faithful, still to this day and He promises that will never change. His presence is not absent in our times of pain. In fact, His presence often becomes most real in the middle of our suffering.
Many of us believe God is close during joyful moments but harder to be heard from in hardships. The Bible tells a different story. Throughout Scripture, we see God standing with His people in their hardest moments.
When Moses led the Israelites through the wilderness, God promised to go with them. When Joshua faced the overwhelming task of leading the nation after Moses’ death, God told him:
“Be strong and courageous… for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.” — Deuteronomy 31:6
Joshua was stepping into uncertainty. He likely felt afraid and inadequate. But God did not promise an easy path, He simply promised His presence.
That same promise still speaks to us today.
One of the hardest experiences we face in life is losing someone we love. Grief can bring even the strongest of people to their knees. Empty chairs, quiet rooms, and old memories can suddenly bring tears without warning.
During these seasons of mourning, it may feel as though the world keeps moving forward with life while yours appears to be standing still. But Scripture reminds us that God is near to the brokenhearted.
Jesus Himself experienced sorrow. He wept at the tomb of Lazarus even though He knew his resurrection was coming. Think about that for a moment, this is God, He knows that Lazarus will be brought back to life, yet He was sorrowful. That moment reveals something beautiful about Jesus’s heart, He does not ignore human pain. He enters into it with compassion.
If you are grieving today, God sees and catches every tear. He understands every ache. And even when you cannot feel Him, He is still walking beside you, He will never leave your side.
The promise “I will never leave you nor forsake you” means just that, God stays even when everyone else cannot. Friends may not know what to say, loved ones may not fully understand your pain, but God remains steady, faithful, and everlasting.
Loneliness has become one of the greatest struggles in our modern day life. A person can be surrounded by people and still feel deeply alone. Social media has been this biggest culprit of this in my opinion. It may connect us digitally, but many hearts still long for genuine human touch, peace, and belonging.
The good news is that God’s love is personal, He lives inside any person that has accepted Jesus as his Savior. He also knew you before you were in the womb, He knows your name, He knows every hair on your head, He knows your thoughts, dreams and fears.
Psalm 139 reminds us there is nowhere we can go where God’s presence cannot reach us. Whether we are celebrating on mountaintops or crying in silence late at night, He is there.
Sometimes God’s presence comes quietly. It may come through a sudden peace during prayer, through a Scripture verse that speaks directly to your heart, or through unexpected strength to face another day.
His presence may not always remove the storm immediately, but it gives us the courage to endure it, with Him along side of us.
The greatest proof that God will never forsake us is found in Jesus. Jesus stepped into a broken world filled with suffering, rejection, and pain. He walked among ordinary people, healed the hurting, comforted the grieving, and offered hope to the lost. Even on the cross, Jesus displayed incredible love. He willingly gave His life so humanity could be reconciled and live with God forever. His sacrifice opened the door for every person to experience eternal life and an everlasting relationship with Him.
Before ascending to heaven, Jesus gave His followers another comforting promise:
“And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” — Matthew 28:20
Notice in this verse He said always. Not only when life is easy, not only when faith feels strong, not only when prayers are perfect...
Always.
That means Jesus is with you in hospital rooms, cemeteries, sleepless nights, financial struggles, broken relationships, anxiety, and uncertainty. His love does not disappear when circumstances become difficult and seemingly out of control.
Faith is not about pretending life is easy. Faith is choosing to trust God even when the road ahead feels unclear. There will be moments when answers do not come quickly, there will be prayers that seem endlessly delayed, there may even be seasons where silence feels overwhelming.
But silence does not mean absence. Often, God is working in ways we cannot yet see. He is always working behind the scenes.
Think of a child holding a parent’s hand in the dark. The child may not understand the path ahead, but the parent does. In the same way, God asks us to trust in Him and that He has our best interest.
The world changes constantly. Many things will seem uncertain and even scary. People will fail, circumstances will change, emotions will rise and fall. But God’s faithfulness never changes. That is why His promises become an anchor for the soul.
When fear whispers, “You are alone,” God says, “I am with you.”
When sorrow says, “You will not make it through this,” God says, “My grace is sufficient for you.”
When guilt says, “You are too far gone,” God says, “My mercy is new every morning.”
No matter what you are facing today, you can hold onto this truth: God’s love is stronger than your pain, greater than your fear, and deeper than your loneliness.
If your heart feels heavy today, take comfort in this promise from God:
“I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Those words have carried grieving hearts, strengthened weary souls, and brought hope to countless people throughout history. They remind us that even in life’s darkest valleys, we are never left alone to fend for ourselves. God walks beside you through every storm, He holds you in every sorrow, and His love will never fail.
You may not know what tomorrow holds, but you can trust the One who holds tomorrow, and He promises never to let go of you.
