I Saw Hell and Then Met Jesus: Jordan Samuel's Near-Death Experience
How do you picture a home that is blessed? Is it the biggest mansion, the brightest lights, the best neighborhood?
“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” — Joshua 24:15
Every person longs for a home filled with peace, love, protection, and joy. Yet many families today struggle with stress, conflict, fear, financial burdens, and uncertainty. The good news is that God desires to bless your home. His Word is filled with promises for those who welcome Him into their lives and households.
A blessed home is not necessarily the biggest house, the most expensive neighborhood, or the place with the fewest problems. A blessed home is one where God's presence dwells. It is a place where faith grows, love flourishes, and hearts are drawn closer to Him.
If you are wondering what you need to do for God to bless your home, Scripture provides clear guidance.
Always make God the center of your home and life.
Jesus said:
“Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” — Matthew 6:33
Many people ask God to bless their homes while placing other priorities ahead of Him. God wants to be at the center of your family, not just an occasional visitor.
How to put God first means:
When God is first, everything else begins to fall into place.
Prayer is the best way to invite God's presence into your household.
Prayer does not have to be complicated. Prayer means expressing your honest feelings. It can be as simple as telling God about your joys, worries, hopes, and needs. Remember, He already knws He simply wants to hear from you.
Scripture tells us:
“Pray without ceasing.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:17
Some things to pray for:
Homes that pray together often find strength during life's greatest trials and difficulties.
One of the greatest barriers to God's blessings, is unresolved bitterness.
The Bible teaches:
“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.” — Ephesians 4:32
No family is perfect. People make mistakes. Feelings will get hurt. Time can drag things out to endless conflict.
A blessed home is not one without conflict, it is one where forgiveness is practiced.
Ask God to help you:
Remember, where there is love there is room for God, if there is a heart full of hatred or anger, there is no room for love.
The Bible is more than a book; it is God's instruction manual for life.
Psalm 119:105 says:
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
When families build their lives on Scripture, they gain wisdom and direction.
Consider:
The more God's Word fills your home, the more His wisdom shapes your family. The more your family will be blesssed.
Sometimes we ask God to bless our homes while still allowing influences that pull us away from Him.
This may include:
Ask God's Spirit to reveal anything that does not belong in your home or your family's hearts.
Psalm 101:3 says:
“I will set nothing wicked before my eyes.”
Creating an environment that honors God helps cultivate His peace and presence.
Thankfulness transforms the atmosphere of a home.
Instead of focusing on what is missing, focus on what God has already provided. Teach those around you to be grateful for th elittle things in life and remembering to be thankful for the work Jesus did on the cross.
The Bible says:
“Give thanks in all circumstances.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18
A grateful heart:
Start each day by thanking God for three blessings. Over time, gratitude can change the entire tone of your household and your heart.
God often blesses those who become a blessing to others.
Jesus taught:
“It is more blessed to give than to receive.” — Acts 20:35
Look for opportunities to:
Generosity reflects the heart of God and opens doors for His blessings to flow through your life. Just try one act of kindness, and I guarantee you will feel something within.
Every home experiences challenges.
There will be seasons of uncertainty, financial struggles, illness, grief, and unanswered questions. Yet God's blessings are not limited to easy times.
Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
Trusting God during difficult seasons demonstrates faith and invites His guidance.
Sometimes His greatest blessings come through the very trials we wish to avoid.
Many families dedicate new homes through prayer, but every home can be dedicated to God regardless of how long you've lived there.
Take time to pray over every room.
Ask God to:
A simple act of dedication can become a powerful declaration of faith.
While financial provision, protection, and peace are wonderful blessings, God's greatest blessing is His presence.
When God's presence fills a home:
The blessing you seek may not always arrive in the form YOU expect. Sometimes God's greatest gift is simply knowing that He is with you every step of the way.
