5-Year-Old Girl Survives House Fire That Killed Her Parents and Baby Brother

I found this story and I thought that as a community we could pray for this family. Here is the story.

In the devastating early hours of April 1, 2026, a house fire in Lancaster, Ohio, claimed the lives of 27-year-old Mason Marshall, his fiancée Nicole Woodman, and their 9-month-old son. The heroic father managed to push their 5-year-old daughter, Rowyn, to safety out a window before perishing while trying to save the rest of his family. Can you even image that. Kida like Job in the Bible. The only survivor was a 5-year-old little girl.

Rowyn is safe in the care of her grandparent who, while still in deep shock and grief, is doing everything possible to hold it together for her.

Can you even image what the Grandparents are going through? Grieving the loss of your son, your daughter-in-law, and your grandchild while also becoming the source of strength, comfort, and stability for a little girl who has lost absolutely everything she has ever known. There are no words big enough to hold this kind of loss.

Let take a look at Mason, the hero who saved little Rowyn. Mason wasn’t just a name. He was a light in this world. The kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back without thinking twice. The kind of person who showed up for others, who loved deeply, and who lived with a heart full of kindness and generosity.

And in his final moments, Mason showed exactly who he was. As the fire took over, his only concern wasn’t himself it was his family. He fought to get them out. He gave everything he had trying to save the people he loved most. That is who Mason was. What a hero!

At just 5 years old, this sweet child is now facing a reality no child should ever have to face. She doesn’t fully understand what has happened. She doesn’t yet grasp the depth of what she has lost. But in the quiet moments, in the confusion, in the questions there is a pain that will unfold over time.
