Girl With Heart Transplant Comes Home After 3 Years

After nearly three years in the hospital, Sienna finally came home.

Sienna’s journey back home feels like a miracle after all she has endured. Born with only half a heart, she bravely faced numerous surgeries as a baby and spent over two years relying on a mechanical heart while waiting for the gift of a transplant. Finally, in June 2025, her family found hope in Texas when doctors were able to match her with a donor heart.

Sienna's father, Fano Barton, expressed his deep gratitude, saying, “Our daughter is only alive today because another family chose donation.”

Though the road to recovery was long and challenging, the moment they returned to their neighborhood on day 975 of their journey was filled with overwhelming joy. Fano reflected, “She was two years old when she went into the hospital, and now she’s five.”

For the Barton family, their homecoming was a poignant reminder of the incredible support from their community. From fundraising thousands of dollars for medical travel to offering heartfelt prayers and encouragement, Saratoga Springs has been a beacon of strength throughout their ordeal.

“I knew we had a big village of support, but I didn’t expect so many people to rally behind us,” Sienna’s mother, Francesca, shared. “So many have been there helping our family through this difficult time.”

Now, after everything Sienna has faced, her new heart is beating strong—much like the hearts of their caring neighbors who welcomed her home. “Our hearts are so full,” Francesca said, embodying the overwhelming gratitude the family feels for their loved ones and the extraordinary gift of life.
