President Trump Can't Climb Up To Heaven

During an interview earlier this week on "Fox & Friends," President Donald Trump passionately articulated his unwavering commitment to ending the devastating bloodshed in eastern Europe between Russia and Ukraine!

Clearly, burdened by the senseless loss of life on both sides, Mr. Trump then revealed, with an unmistakable tone of optimism, what might truly motivate his unwavering commitment to investing countless hours, energy, and resources in his peacemaking endeavor.

“I want to try and get to Heaven, if possible,” he explained. “I’m hearing I’m not doing well. I am really at the bottom of the totem pole. But if I can get to Heaven, this will be one of the reasons.”

Not surprisingly, some mainstream news outlets pounced. The New York Times asked sarcastically, “Who, exactly, has been informing the president that he is ‘not doing well’ with regard to Kingdom come? Did Michael the Archangel somehow get Mr. Trump’s cellphone number?”

The Mirror US revealed that the president may have inadvertently exposed a serious health issue! An X user shared a compelling perspective, saying, "Consider all the motivations that could drive an elderly man who has indulged in the Seven Deadly Sins throughout his life to seek redemption with urgency! Yet, he seems to overlook all except one: he is aware that his time is running out!"

The hard truth is, President Trump is dying; but, so are you and so am I! The Bible teaches us that death is universal, and it is no respecter of person, regardless of their power or their position.

But, I firmly contend that President Trump was not disclosing thoughts or fears regarding his impending mortality; rather, he was articulating what countless individuals, including many who claim a belief in God, genuinely ponder about the journey to Heaven!

Even, in an increasingly secular culture, Heaven remains an electrifying topic! In the 15 years I’ve hosted my daily radio program, conversations about eternity have consistently sparked the strongest and most passionate responses. My friend and author, John Burke, is a sought-after guest, who delves into the fascinating realm of near-death experiences! Listeners can’t help but be captivated! We’re all captivated!

Some believe that all roads lead to Heaven; while others hold the view that one must earn their way to Heaven! This perspective appears to resonate with Trump, who links his divine rewards to his skillful and potentially successful efforts in negotiating peace...

This is not the first occasion that Trump has discussed Heaven in this manner!

While campaigning for a second term last October, President Trump passionately addressed a crowd at Madison Square Garden, declaring, “I know my mother’s in Heaven, and I have a strong belief that my father is very close to that same peace!”

We can all appreciate Mr. Trump’s reasoning, especially given what the world often seems to preach about what we would call a “works-based salvation” philosophy! However, the truly remarkable news is that the New Testament offers an entirely different, and far more liberating perspective.

As a Christian, there is no totem pole to climb! You cannot earn your way to the Pearly Gates! It’s not about horseshoes or nuclear bombs! Close isn’t close enough! The essence lies in having a genuine, personal relationship with Jesus Christ!

“Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them,” said Jesus (John 3:36). We later read in John’s Gospel another declarative promise from the Lord: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (14:6).

The president carries enormous burdens, as both chief executive and commander-in-chief! The very best news for Trump, and everyone else for that matter, is that they don’t have to bear the added burden of being good enough, or doing enough, to earn the gift of eternal life! In fact, since we don’t know what’s in a person’s heart, and who may have confessed their sins and accepted Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior, we can confidently anticipate being surprised by some who we will meet in Heaven!

Yet, we can rest assured that we do not have to worry, or strive to earn our eternal reward! What truly matters is to wholeheartedly believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God; to genuinely repent, to turn away from our sinful ways, and to place our unwavering faith and trust in Him!
