18 Year Old Boy Survived 49 Days Lost At Sea By Catching Fish, Reading His Bible, and Singing Christian Songs
A 19-year-old Indonesian teenager, Aldi Novel Adilang, survived an almost unimaginable 49 days lost at sea, leaving the world in awe.
Aldi was working alone on a small floating fishing hut known as a rompong off the coast of North Sulawesi, Indonesia, when a violent storm suddenly snapped the rope anchoring it to the ocean floor. With no engine, no paddle, and only limited supplies, the hut was slowly pulled into the open sea.
Within days, his food was gone.
To stay alive, Aldi began catching fish by hand and cooking them over a small fire he built on the hut. Fresh water became his greatest struggle. He survived by collecting rainwater and at times, wringing water from soaked clothing after storms passed.
As days turned into weeks, ships sailed past him in the distance but none noticed the tiny structure drifting alone in the vast ocean.
In the face of overwhelming isolation and fear, Aldi later shared that prayer, reading his Bible, and singing Christian songs gave him strength and kept him from giving in to despair when rescue felt impossible.
After nearly seven weeks adrift, a Panamanian cargo ship finally spotted him near waters approaching Guam and pulled him to safety.
Against all odds, Aldi survived.
His story stands as a powerful testimony of faith, endurance, and the human will to survive and a reminder that even in the most hopeless circumstances, hope can still be found.
